Surgical Hot Clinic
Overview
Surgical hot clinic is an urgent outpatient service for surgical issues that fall somewhere between acute admission and an appointment weeks away - for example, a perianal abscess.
Patients will typically be seen by a surgical registrar or consultant.

Referrals can only come from clinicians - you cannot ask someone else to refer on your behalf.

Sending the Referral
- Call 01942 778 663 to refer
- Dictate a letter (urgently)
- Type and print a copy for the patient to bring with them
TIP
Letters have often not been accessible to the surgical hot clinic teams. I’ve found it helpful to give the patient a physical copy (type it yourself and print it for the patient).
