Joint Injections

Overview

Several doctors at the surgery perform steroid injections for orthopaedic/joint problems. Each patient will typically need to be assessed first to determine if the injection is appropriate, possible, and to discuss consent.

Check Before Suggesting

Some areas (like hips) need a general anaesthetic and can’t be done in primary care. If you are unsure about whether a specific joint can be injected, contact one of the doctors on the list below before suggesting it to a patient.

Booking Process

  • Assess the patient to determine if injection is appropriate
  • Discuss consent with the patient
  • Ask patient to go to reception
  • Patient should ask for an appointment with one of the above doctors regarding a steroid injection
