Guidelines for requesting and scheduling routine and urgent blood tests for children up to age 12 via the Children’s Community Nursing Team.

👩‍⚕️ Children's Community Nursing Team

The Children’s Community Nursing Team provide nurse-led clinics across the borough to facilitate blood test requests.

We are unable to accommodate a drop-in service. This is by appointment only.

To arrange an appointment:

  • Contact the team on 01942 481345 or 01942 481230
  • Voicemail facility available if unable to answer
  • Ensure parents have the blood form
  • Provide instructions (fasting, EMLA cream if needed)

⚠️ Results Access

We are unable to access results. Advise parents/carers to contact their GP or Consultant to discuss results.

ℹ️ Age Policy

We will only accept requests for children under 12 years. Young people over 12 will be signposted to Thomas Linacre Centre.

With the rise in blood test requests, current waiting time is around 2-3 weeks, unless a family cancels last minute.

Requests must meet the priority criteria. All other requests will be given the next available appointment (approximately 4 weeks).
