Your NHS Smartcard is essential for daily clinical work at Pennygate Practice.
Overview
You need a working Smartcard to:
- Generate prescriptions
- Log into ICE to look at/create test requests
- Create fit notes
⚠️ Prioritise Getting Your Smartcard
Without a working smartcard, you will need to message and request a prescription for each patient you see. This can be very disruptive for you, your supervisor, and the patient.
🚦 Common Situations
Trainees often arrive in different situations:

|---|---|
| No smartcard | Speak to Lynn or Emily to request one |
| Expired smartcard | Speak to Lynn or Emily about renewal |
| Unusual/variable permissions | Speak to Lynn or Emily to rectify |
